The Study Of "Number + Temporary Quantifier+ Adjective" Construction In Contemporary Chinese

Temporary quantifiers are the specific subcategory in modern Chinese quantifiers system. They are nonce borrowing from other parts of speech as quantifiers under certain conditions and only when they are collocated with numerals in the sentences, do they have the grammatical meaning of quantifiers. Generally,the quantitative phrases which are composed of numerals and temporary quantifiers modify the nouns. However,in our daily language, the phenomenon that the numeral phrases modify the adjectives does exist, and the phenomenon is not unusual. At present, the studies for temporary quantifiers are limited to the collocation of temporary quantifiers and the nouns.However, the attention of temporary quantifiers modifying adjectives is few. Hence, this article takes the structure “number+temporary quantifier +adjective” as object to study.from the point of semantics, grammatical and pragmatics, we research the structure and find the characteristics and laws for the collocations. the article includes the following aspects:The preface of the paper instruct the research object, research status, research significance,research methods and the source of utterance materials.The chapter one researches the composition of the structure “number + temporary quantifier + adjective”. Firstly, we define the temporary quantifier. And according to their characteristics, we classify the temporary quantifier. And on the basis of study on temporary quantifier, analyzing the the semantic characteristics of numerals and temporary quantifier. Moreover, we also research the restriction factors about the components of the structure.The chapter two analyzes the semantic characteristics of the structure“number+temporary quantifier+adjective”. Studying the traits on measurement,description, semantic reference and semantic orientation of the structure.We consider the structure can form subjective measurement or objective measurement. The structure acts as different syntactic, its semantic orientation is different.The chapter three researches grammatical function and pragmatic function of the structure. Analyzing syntactic component the structure serves as and the special sentence it can appear in. Furthermore, the structure have abundant rhetoric and rich semantic color.
