This is a report of translation practice. This thesis is based on the translation of the foreword, the first chapter and the last chapter of Welding Robots. The foreword mainly deals with the importance of welding robots and content of the book. The first chapter gives a general introduction of welding robots, and the last chapter forecasts the development of welding robots. There are four parts in this thesis. They are task description of the translation of Welding Robots, translation process description, case analysis and conclusion. The first chapter is task description, which consists of the background information and objectives of the project, the introduction of the content of source text, and the evaluation of source text. The second chapter is process description, which deals with four parts, namely, preparation before translation, translation process, translation theories and revision after translation. The third chapter covers the detailed translation of the source text and the study of the linguistic features and translation methods and techniques of welding. The last chapter is the conclusion of this report which summarizes the experience from this translation practice and the problem to be solved. In the translating process, the theory of George Steiner was applied and the linguistic features and translation methods and techniques of welding robots were studied and made use of. Hopefully, this thesis will be useful for anyone who is interested in this field.
