This report is a translation of the second part(from Page 36 to Page 71) of Preliminary Report on a Journey of Archaeological and Topographical Exploration in Chinese Turkestan, by M. A. Stein, a British writer.The report consists of five parts. Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory, the translator analyzed the feature of the text and discussed the specific translation methods used to deal with difficult points at lexical, syntactical, textural and cultural levels. The last part is a summary of this translation practice.The importance of the report lies in discussing the application of translation methods used in the translation process. It is hoped that this report may provide some beneficial references for translating informative texts. |
