Stimulative Consecutive Interpretation Report Of Michelle Obama’s Speech In Democratic Convention In 2012

This is an English-Chinese stimulative consecutive interpretation report. Consecutive interpretation which requires the interpreter to interpret after the speaker finished several sentences is one part of interpretation. The content of the interpretation is Mitchell Obama’s speech in democratic convention in 2012, which is to win support for her husband Barack Obama’s re-election. Because I can’t be on site, so I finished the consecutive interpretation stimulatively.The difficulties of the interpretation are the specialty of speech and the difference between English and Chinese. To solve the difficulty, guided by the skopos rule, coherence rule and loyalty rule under skopostheorie, the interpretation task adopted some translation techniques, such as literal translation, class shift, division, combination and adaptation.I found the interrelation among the three principles, and had a deeper understanding of above translation techniques. I also found that it is useful to improve the translation ability by the summary and analysis after interpretation.This report consists of five parts, which are the background of the interpretation task, the preparation, the guiding principles-the three principles of skopostheorie, the analysis of the three principles’ use and the summary.
