A Consecutive Interpretation Practice Report

Interpretation is of great significance in a number of international activities,for instance,economic,political,diplomatic,cultural events and so forth.High-quality interpretation is capable of establishing a solid foundation for both sides,while badly-performed interpretation will seriously block the cooperative progress,and even damage the foreign relations between countries.This thesis aims at applying lexical equivalence,syntactic equivalence,stylistic equivalence and discourse equivalence into the consecutive text,based on functional equivalence theory put forth by Eugene A.Nida.With the purpose of finishing this consecutive practice at a higher level,the indirect parallel text of the 2018 Report on the Work of the Government,the practice texts of the Remarks on the Council of Heads of Member States of the 2018 Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Keynote Speech at the Opening Ceremony of the 2018 FOCAC Beijing Summit,and the direct parallel text of the Keynote Speech at the Opening of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2017 are well prepared in advance.In addition,during the process of this consecutive practice,author takes active and immediate actions to tackle the issues of improper translation versions of complicated words and complex contents as well as distracted concentration.Comparing the translation versions between author and the official one,based on the instructive theory of functional equivalence theory,this thesis conducts a conclusion of the weaknesses and the shining points respectively,and aims at improving the author's interpretation capacities.For instance,through this consecutive practice,the author grasps a deep understanding of the application of practices and theories,which is conducive to providing more effective and helpful suggestions for interpretation.While,the author still need to put more efforts into the preparatory stage before interpretation,improving interpretation capacities by enriching lexical amounts and background information in advance.
