A Research On Development Model And Strategies Of The Aged Homes In Shanghai

Shanghai is the city with the highest degree of aging in China, the aged homes would be the choice of more and more old people in future, adapting to such a trend, during in the past ten years, the aged homes have achieved rapid expansion and is now facing great opportunities for further development, however, along with diversified, multi-level characteristics of needs of the aged are becoming increasingly prominent, while idle beds exist in some aged homes, others are queuing, the sustainability of the aged homes is facing challenges. How about the status of the Shanghai aged homes? What are impediments? With the demographic changes, what are the trends and characteristics of the demand of the elderly population? And what should be the directions for future development? Answers to all these questions should do great theoretical and practical significance to promotion the of service system and enhance of the service quality.Firstly, the paper tried to get experience of the development of the aging service of Honking, Japan and America. Secondly, based on the data obtained from the empirical survey, the paper did a systematic analysis of present situations and main problems of the Shanghai aged homes. Thirdly, through prediction of changes of the aging population, and analysis of the characteristics of the aged who already lived in the aged homes, the paper did analysis on trends and characteristics of the development model of Shanghai aged homes. Finally, based on proposal of the government-led, diversified, multi-level, relying on the uniform evaluation criteria development model, characteristics of the development model of Shanghai ageing homes, aiming to resolve contradictions of the supply and demand and smooth the developing mechanisms, the paper proposed some related strategies and measures.The results show that:While the Shanghai aged homes have achieved significant results, supply and demand contradictions stand out, how to make different types of aged homes to achieve effective operations, and the aged with various of economic status, health status, and family structure can be smoothly put into the old pension agency, is the need to solve the problem. This study proposes that the existing aged home system is still facing lots of challenges in the background of rapid aging population, the development of Shanghai aged homes may adopt a demand-oriented, government-led, diversified and multi-level, relying on uniform evaluation criteria development model.
