As the development of market economy in China,the union played a more andmore important role in the construction of harmonious labor relations. Themarket economy model and the new characteristics of labor relations haschallenged the traditional role of Chinese trade unions, however,in the face ofthese challenges our trade union’s inability to deal with. There is a “doublemaintain” in our labor union law,it made our labor union as a coordinator’participate in labor conflicts so that cant safeguard legal rights actively andeffectively. At the same time, according to the provisions of existing laws andregulations about trade union, the nature of our union is more inclined topolitical sense of people’s organizations rather than the legal concept of socialgroups. Such qualitative restrict the union play its function as a matter of course.The traditional role of trade union makes more difficult to play its function. So,it’s a urgent matter that change the role of trade union to make it act a usefuleffect in the construction of harmonious labor relations.Without doubt, the labor union should be on behalf of the labors,the legalorganization for labors safeguard rights. It should be the power support ion forthe labors to against employers. The labor union should be a independent socialorganization who represents the workers’ interests, appeared based on thefreedom of association. To safeguard the legitimate rights of the workers is itsbasic duty. In the background of globalization, industrialization and urbanization,it’s normally to expect highly about labor union to function. However, thingstowards the opposite direction. Because the labor union is lack of independence,our lab,,or union tend t"o be a boss unionin most cases. To the Trade Union, It’sthe basic role as on behalf of the labors, as for the coordinator role, the other role should be considerate on the basis of carrying out its functions well. Itshould not have the order reversed. Labor relations is not just relate to the labor,but also have Lo do with the stable and development of the society. The LaborUnion is faced with a serious crisis, and all the problems due to the errorlocation. That’s not a competent Labor Union if it can’t offer protection for thelabors. The labor unions must work for the interests of the workers. Thecollective aphonia should not occur again in the labor rights events. The positionof trade union under the planned economy system has been unable to adapt tothe labor relations under the economy system. Our trade union should keep pacewith the times,strengthening the functions of labor union and change people’sorganizations to social groups in legislative concept. In addition, improve thetrade union system and change the role position so that play a positive role inbuilding up harmonious labor relations.
