During the transformation period of China, from traditional agricultural society to modern industrialsociety, migrant workers, as a special social group appears in this special period, have contributed a lot tothe urbanization and economic development of China. According to the research of National Bureau ofStatistics of China, the number of migrant workers in China has reached269million, with an increase of6.33million and2.4%compared with the year2012. Among the total number of migrant worker, there are166million people who depart from their home province, and this number has increased by1.7%, whichmeans2.74million people just in one year. Along with the development of the times, the new-generationmigrant workers have become the main stream of migrant workers, gradually take place of elder generation.Different from the traditional type of migrant workers, the new-generation has shown some new features.They are looking forward to the broader prospect in town, and gradually aliened from the farmland in ruralarea. Also, they have more aspiration and more abilities which might allow them be able to live in city.However, some realistic issues may restrict them integrating into city, such as the imperfection of politicaland economic policies in urban city. This study will analyze the key factors which restrict new-generationmigrant’s integrating, then gives some advices about those issues for problem solving.Xinxiang has been taken as the main sample of this study. This research uses questionnaire, case studyand interview as key research methods. The main perspectives of this study are as follows: This paper firstgives a brief literature review of previous studies in this field. Secondly, this study discusses the mainreasons of how migrant workers generated, then goes on to summarize the basic characteristics and statusof new-generation migrant workers by observing and comparing conventional generation andnew-generation, which was based on the field survey and interviews of Xinxiang. Moreover, based on the analysis of the main problems and factors of the new-generation migrant workers, this paper examines theinstitutional constraints of the existing urban-rural dual structure and the non-institutional trouble attachedto that structure from a macro-level. This study also explores the inherent constraints of migrant workers.Finally, according to those two analysis above, this research will give some advices for helpingnew-generation migrant workers integrating into urban life from the perspective of government,corporation and society.
