Along with the reform of the government system in China,Significant changes have taken place in the functions of the government.A large number of executional and transactional functions have beentransferred, which provides great chances for the revival and developmentof the new social strata, social forces and a variety of organizations. InXinyang, a new city with great advances in economic, political and socialfields, community awareness of citizens to defend their rights andinterests are gradually increased. Meanwhile, its nonprofit organizationshave also been developing rapidly, and played an increasingly importantrole.Nonprofit organizations, as an important support of communitymanagement and community services, provide public products andcontribute a lot to the community. Moreover, with their uniquecharacteristics and advantages, they also participate in communitymanagement and undertake a large number of functions transferred by thegovernment in the reform, thus, become an indispensable part in people’slives.Based on the actual situation of our country and Xinyang city, thispaper will first introduce the basic concepts of nonprofit organizationsand community management, and make an exposition on thedevelopment of nonprofit organizations in Xinyang and their role in thecommunity management, including their theoretical basis and factualbasis. Then, on the basis of the detailed analysis on the factual role of thenonprofit organizations in the community management, and by way ofthe related experiences in western countries, this study also tries to pointout the difficulties that they are faced with and give some advices, withthe purpose of giving full play to the nonprofit organizations in thecommunity management in Xinyang.
