The underwriting decision of insurance company depends heavily on informed of the insured. Generous, comprehensive and accurate information of insurance consumer is the base of insurance company management. However, there is some privacy of insurance consumer in this information. The policy-holder should obey the principle of utmost good faith to fulfill information obligation, the insurance company has more obligation to keep the disclosure content secret, avoid violating insurance consumer’s privacy. But that is not the case, in order to expand the business to maximize the profit, insurance company gets the information through various channels, resulting in "telephone calls", buying and selling consumer information, the use of customer data on business and other violations of insurance consumer’s privacy. With the development of information technology, there is an increasing security risk of citizens’ privacy, especially for the insurance consumer who has tall his privacy to insurance company. In order to protect insurance consumer’s privacy, it is right time to standardize the acquisition, use and management of insurance consumer’s information. And it also contributes to increasing insurance consumer’s confidence.Out of this thought, we are going to study on the protection of insurance consumer’s privacy systematically. Frist of all, we make the definition of insurance consumer’s privacy by explaining the meaning of privacy and the relationship between insurance consumption and privacy. Then, we interpret the protection of Chinese insurance consumer’s privacy and its existing problems through legislation, supervision and insurance company. Last but not least, according to the reality of our country, drawing the experiences of America, Germany and Japan to put forward the omni-directional, multi-level protection mechanism of Chinese insurance consumer’s privacy.There are five chapters in this paper, and the main contents of each chapter are as follows. The first chapter is introduction. We study on the background and significance of this paper, domestic and international research, the ideas and methods, and the innovation and shortcomings.The second chapter is the summary of insurance consumer’s privacy. Expounding the meaning of privacy, and analyzing the particularity of privacy in insurance consumption.The third chapter is the analysis of the protection of Chinese insurance consumer’s privacy. Interpreting the protection of Chinese insurance consumer’s privacy and its existing problems through legislation, supervision and insurance company.The forth chapter is drawing the experiences of foreign countries in the protection of insurance consumer’s privacy. Describes the situation of America, Germany and Japan, in order to drawing useful experiences.The fifth chapter is putting forward measures to improve the protection of insurance consumer’s privacy. According to the problems in the protection of insurance consumer’s privacy, we draw international experiences and combine the reality of our country to put forward the protection mechanism of Chinese insurance consumer’s privacy, which is improving legal protection, strengthening supervision and guidance, and standardizing the customer information management of insurance company.
