A Study On The Gender Difference Of The Interest Demand And Expression Of Migrant Workers

Since the reform and opening up, China has gained enormous productivity and experienced a significant innovation of agricultural technology, which freed a large amount of labor force from agriculture. These labor force has emigrant to the city region from rural area, migrate to secondary industry and service industry from the first industry, initiating the formation of a special working category which called ―migrant workers‖.Meanwhile, with the ascending influence of China’s urban economic, the attraction constituted by the city’s fancy life was so powerful that many rural women left their homeland, conjoined with the male counterpart, becoming an important member of migrant workers.Although both male and female migrant workers are urban fringe groups, the differences between women and men is still immeasurable. The disparities between male and female migrant workers is that female migrant workers suffer from identification prejudice and gender discrimination which indicates that women are facing more difficulties and hardships than men. This paper argues that suffering from double discrimination, female migrant workers has different interest demands and expression from male migrant workers.Part 1, summarize the articles and theories relating to this study.Part 2, demonstrating the thesis foundation, central concepts, research approaches as well as research methods of this study.Part 3, bewrite the gender difference of the basic characteristic and rights eroding of the samples.Part 4, analyze the gender difference of the interest demand of migrant workers. Although the he research shows that the most concerned issues of migrant workers are highly correlated, which exhibit that migrant workers are most concerned with economic rights(labor rights), followed by social rights, ignoring their political rights, the detail of their interest demand has differed from each other.Part 5, making an inquiry on the gender difference of the interest expression of migrant workers, which indicates that male migrant workers are more inclined to express their demand and female migrant workers tend not to.Part 6, putting forward the conclusion of this study and introducing the suggestion about how to protect the rights of migrant workers especially female migrant workers.
