Research On Female Floating Population’s Social Security

With the advancement of the process of urbanization and the development of market economy, the number of labor mobility is increasing, especially the transfer of surplus rural labor to cities, forming a new population groups in the city--the floating population. However, the current reality of the social security of the floating population is not satisfactory. Therefore, the issue of social security of the floating population has attracted wide attention. In addition, with the increasing number of female floating population in China, the gender structure of the floating population is increasingly showing a balanced characteristic. The status of female floating population is at the intersection between the "floating population" and "female", and in varying degrees, the two groups need to get the care and support from the society.Social security system as a "social safety net" is an important social system, it can guarantee basic livelihood and avoid market, social and even natural risk, so it is important to the floating population, especially to the female floating population. However, past researches paid less attention to gender differences in the social security of the floating population.In view of this, from a gender perspective, the paper takes Tianjin Binhai New Area as an example, use data of the survey about employment and living conditions of the Tianjin Binhai New Area enterprise workers to quantitative analysis. The author concretely analyzes the situation of female floating population’s Social Security in Tianjin Binhai New Area. At the same time, the author gives comparative analysis of the social security situation between female and male floating population. We found that there are significant gender differences in the social security of the floating population, the male floating population’s social security situation is better than the female floating population’s, the female floating population are at a disadvantage in obtaining the equity social security. In addition, the current social security of the female floating population in Tianjin Binhai New Area has the following problems:low insurance rates, low level of protection of social insurance, low level of social security cognitive, weak awareness of insurance and the obvious contradiction of vocational training between supply and demand for the female floating population. In response to these problems, the author analyzes the cause of the problem from four aspects:policy institutional level, the government level, the corporate level as well as the female floating population themselves. Finally according to the interpretation of the causes the writer put forward the proposed policy recommendations to further improve the social security of the female floating population in Tianjin Binhai New Area.
