Study On Countermeasures To Improve The Quality Of Life Of Left

With the growing trend of the aging of our society, and coupled with the continuing acceleration of industrialization and urbanization, a large number of rural populations have migrated to the cities. It leads to the problem of the left-behind elderly in rural areas becoming more and more serious, and also leads to low quality of life of the left-behind elderly. Solving the living problem and improving the quality of life of left-behind elderly in rural areas not only directly relate to improve the overall living standards of the elderly, but also relate to the ability to timely response to the various social issues, promote new socialist countryside construction and achieve truly social harmony ultimately in the grim reality with growing trend of the aging of our society.The quality of life of the left-behind elderly in rural areas was studied in this paper with left-behind elderly as the research object and the quality of life as the breakthrough point. The existing relevant research results at home and abroad was analyzed summarily in the process of research combined with relevant theoretical knowledge and social reality and based on study of a large number of literatures. Taking the left-behind elderly as object which are in south town of Xiajin county, Shandong province, the field investigation and study was carried out through interview and questionnaire method, and it can be got that the basic situation of the quality of life of the left-behind elderly in rural areas and the existing problems as well as the main reason for these problems. Therefore, countermeasures and suggestions were proposed which improve the quality of life of the left-behind elderly in rural areas.There are many problems exist in the left-behind elderly in rural areas through field investigation, such as low income, poor living standards, salient health problems, medical difficulties, inadequate life care, heavy life burden, monotonous life content, spiritual loneliness and insufficient endowment subsidies. According to these problems, the reason of problems was analyzed and countermeasures were proposed to solve the problems from three aspects in order to comprehensively improve the quality of life of left-behind elderly in rural areas. The three aspects include the government, migrant children and the left-behind elderly in rural areas. The countermeasures include government’ solutions to the problems of left-9behind elderly in rural areas from the economic development, social security, new rural cooperative medical care, exploring new pension model and the construction of cultural facilities, etc. They also include migrant workers’initiative to raise awareness and support their parents. In addition, the countermeasures require the left-behind elderly themselves to change their ideas, take the initiative actively, get out of the house, participate in various recreational activities, adjust their attitude, and then improve the quality of life through their own efforts.
