The Research Of Non-governmental Organizations Development In Small And Mid-sized Cities

Since the 80’s in the 20 th century, "non-governmental organization" has become a worldwide topic. Non-governmental organizations(ngos) are rapidly growing and playing more and more important roles in economic development,social progress and global affairs for each country. At the same time, the researches on the development of ngos also gradually rise, which interests more and more persons. The paper adopt some methods which are from theories of public management like the comparative analysis, literature analysis, case study method and the interview investigation to research the development of ngos in small and mid-sized cities. Firstly, I introduce the background, significance,research ideas, methods, overviews and theoretical basis for ngos; Secondly, I introduce the research status for domestic and international ngos; Then, by taking Jiaxing Yihong rescue center as an example, I emphatically introduce the ngos in small and mid-sized cities are facing some practical difficulties currently,especially in the challenges such as funding, personnel training and social credibility; Finally, the author propose the development trend, countermeasures and Suggestions for ngos in small and mid-sized cities, Pointing out that the government should play a leading role, build a benign interaction platform and ngos should improve the ability of cooperation with the government, strengthenits own development. In particular, the government should change the concept of ngos, build and perfect the framework of legal system for ngos, reform the existing management mechanism, increase support for ngos, enhance the supervision of ngos; and the same time, ngos in small and mid-sized cities should improve their ability to raise funds and establish multivariate collect alms channels, contributed the financial support, improve the financial distress,develop training plan, improve the quality of the talents, strengthen government support, improve supervision of government, strengthen the public participation,improve the social credibility of non-governmental organizations.
