A Empirical Research On Farmers’ Political Participation In Hebei Provincein The New Period

Political participation is increasingly becoming an integral part of the process of political democratization in China, especially in the age of economic globalization, political democratization and cultural diversity, the citizen’s political participation also began to show a tendency to expand. China is a large agricultural country, and farmers accounted for the majority of the population in our country. Over the years rural problems is always an important problem that cannot be ignored in the development of China. Since the political participation of peasants is directly related to the problem of rural political development, therefore, study on the political participation of farmers in Hebei province plays an important role in the development of China’s politics.This paper is the sample survey to the 1050 households of the 11 prefecture level cities, 26 counties, 105 villages in Hebei province. The cross analysis of the relationship between gender, cross culture degree, political affiliation, job status, occupation, income level, clans and the farmers’ political participation in Hebei province shows that in addition to clans, all the other factors have a significant influence on the political participation of farmers in Hebei province. The political participation of farmers in Hebei province is not only influenced by many factors, but also shows a co-exist phenomenon of institutionalized and non-institutionalized political participation and with the institutionalized political participation as the main means. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the means to improve the level and ability of the farmers’ political participation in Hebei province from the such perspectives as improve the level of women’s political participation, the development of education, improve the economic level and the system construction, promote rural wind civilization construction and broaden the channels of participation, so as to realize the farmers in Hebei province orderly conduct of citizen political participation, strengthen their capacity of consultations and power supervision, and ensure that the people enjoy democratic rights in a more extensive and practical way, and then promote the reform of the political system and the construction of political civilization of Hebei Province.
