In the context of established international economic theory, as well as in academic discipline, it is widely acclaimed by the general public that “immigration is the movement and entrance of one or more person into another country that is not of his or her country of origin.” Correspondingly, this substantial topic of immigration is likewise and notably to a certain relative degree or extent, has been and will always be a continuing and interesting focal study for certain groups, such as economists and scholars alike.Though most of the researches focus on all the foreign immigrants as a source of data, this research, however, will focus primarily on the Chinese immigrants, who are one of the largest overseas Chinese communities in Southeast Asia. With the strong influence and power of China in the Pacific region, Chinese immigrants also may initiate, if not as beneficiary then as middlemen for economic transactions.Qualitative research methodology was used to supply the needed information and Pearson’s Correlation coefficient statistical method was used to analyze the data wherein economic growth or GDP as the independent variable and the Chinese immigrants as the dependent variable. In relation to this, supporting statistical method was also used which is the linear regression for getting the level of influence the Chinese immigrants have on the economic growth of the Philippines through the channels of industry, human capital as well as development of technology. This research firstly lays down the theoretical foundations by stating that immigrants contribute to the economy of the immigrant receiving country or their new, receiving home country by citing some previous works of scholars from published and un-published articles and then broke down the determinants and agents affecting the economic growth of the Philippines in two areas: Firstly, immigrants supply employment to the immigrant receiving country and increase demand for goods and services; resulting to an augmentation in the economic condition of the immigrant – receiving country. Secondly, immigrants bring in both tangible and intangible, in the form of human and social capital with them which serve as a channel towards economic growth. In conclusion, even though the rising number of Chinese immigrants in the Philippines could reduce wider and greater business opportunities for the non-immigrants, as well as contributing to the rising demographics of the country; notwithstanding, through flexible and efficient management and facilitation – with the influencing channels, they could facilitate economic growth in one way or another, both directly and indirectly.
