The rapid development of information technology, the 21 st century brings opportunity and challenge to education, how to cultivate students’ learning to learn, learning to be cooperative, learning to live, stimulate the thinking of teachers and young pioneers. In such a background, the concept of contemporary education calls for training students’ ability. Because, independent ability is the core of sustainable development of the people, for the people’s lifelong development, is an important part of. And cultivate students’ ability is also the basic requirements from the national young pioneers working committee for the work of contemporary young pioneers. Nonetheless, many counselors are awareness of independent ability and independent ability training methods and other issues are still confused. Therefore, this paper, taking "cultivating students’ ability" as the research content, with the young pioneers activities as a way of training, with the author’s school as the research school, the present situation of the development of students’ ability to study, based on the analysis of existing problems and improvement suggestions are put forward.This article is divided into four chapters.Chapter 1 is the introduction part, the emphasis of the paper selected topic reason, the research significance, the overall train of thought, method and the status quo of research at home and abroad are expounded.Chapter 2 expounds the definition of independent ability, and in the connotation of independent ability namely, self-reliance, self-care, self-discipline, confidence and introspection, and factor analysis to the development of students’ ability.
