Research On Social Support Of Women Migrant Workers

With the further development of reform and opening up, China’s modernization process and the level of overall economic development continue to increase. Due to various historical and practical reasons, the urban economy developed faster than the rural economy,the promotion of the industrialization lead to that the industrial structure has also undergone corresponding changes, secondary and tertiary industries increase both in proportion and and importance in the national economy, the city’s economic development also requires a lot of relatively cheap labor force, and there has been a huge number of rural surplus labor, they want to seek more development opportunities and flows into the city, forming a "Flood."Independent consciousness of the female population has increased, and some rural women are out of agricultural production, and freed from the tedious housework, they migrate from rural to urban areas urban and become a member of industrial workers. More and more women migrant workers appear in cities,and they belong to the urban-rural and gender "double disadvantaged" groups——with respect to the urban residents they are rural people and they are women compared to men. They have also been isolated from the urban household registration system,and their income are also at a low level.At the same time, China’s feudal culture roots deeply, having lived in such an environment for a long time, the broad masses of women was imprisoned by patriarchal and social gender bias,and women want to break through the difficulty, which needs to be payed by great efforts, not only the individual, but also the whole society. Women migrant workers migrate from the rural to the the urban,along with the double disadvantage of gender and geographic location, and their survival and development in the city also influened by various constraints,such as personal factors, cultural factors, and institutional factors.With the flow of women migrant workers, their emotional, mental, economic,work and family changes deeply.Their city life setting,searching for work and emotional attachment are from the original primary groups, and this kind of situation in the later days do not have great change. The real reason of this kind of circumstance is multifaceted, and in order to improve this situation, it also needs the cooperation of the whole society, which contains the national policy on the top of the design, need to be integrated into the concept and perspective of feminism, middle level include community organizations, business units, all kinds of women and all kinds of NGOs, they create a good environment and give practical help.What’s more, women migrant workers should perfect and improve themselves,and they also cannot leave the support of their original social support network.The survey makes the female migrant workers in Minhang District of Shanghai as the research object. Through case interviews and literature research, the author describes the bacis situation of the support for women migrant workers, analyzes influencing factors, and puts forward the corresponding solutions. This paper is divided into five parts.The first chapter introduces the research origin and significance;the literature is reviewed from the female migrant workers and social support two areas;research design defines key concepts, research methods and shows the sample.The second chapter discusses the informal social support of female migrant workers, points out that informal support are their first and basic security sources in city lives, including information, emotion and social intercourse;the study also find that informal support of female migrant workers are different for diferent perpon.The third chapter describes the formal social support of female migrant workers;the formal social support is absence in the whole social support system of female migrant workers;interviews of female migrant workers attitude and perception of formal social support also confirms the lack of formal support.The fourth chapter analyzes the influence factors of the female migrant workers social support, separately from the individual factors, family and social gender, history,culture and structure or system factors. Chapter five is conclusion and discussion, make summary and theoretical response, puts forward the improvement countermeasures of female migrant workers social support status, also points out the problems at this stage of the existence of this study, in order to do some development and innovation in future research.
