Analysis On Procedure Of China’s Participation On Association Of Southeast Asian Nations Regional Forum

Although the bipolar structure and hegemony competition between America and the Soviet Union ended in the 1990s. Equilibrium diplomacy between countries of Southeast Asia went broke due to the quit of the Soviet Union. Association of Southeast Asian Nations Regional Forum(ARF)emerged in 1994 due to the uncertainty of International situation, internal contradictions in ASEAN and challenges from integration of ASEAN. ARF has been being not only a stage for impartial conferences between different countries but also a platform for discussion of multilateral security cooperation. ARF had been contributing on security and already had effectively results, which created a new space for security collaboration of Asian-Pacific region. China’s participation of ARF is a new approach of foreign affairs.China has been keeping updated attitude and participation of ARF depends on the development of ARF and our diplomacy. The procedure of the participation is:initial contact stage when the ARF started, limited participation during our multilateral diplomacy stage and compressive involvement. This thesis expounded development of China’s participation of ARF, which not only explained history foundation of friendship between China and ARF but also challenges during China’s participation. China has good relationship with Southeastern Asian countries since 1949, tough frictions occurred. The biggest challenges of the two parties are China threat theory and territorial dispute with some countries.
