Due to the time background of "risk society " and the China’s reality of "broken society",China’s economic transition and social transformation, faced with the possibility of high risk and uncertain crisis happen at any time.Crisis management has two sides: on the one hand, the inappropriate crisis management can intensifies social contradictions, disturbing social orders,leading to secondary crisis frequency, and collapse the government image. On the other hand, the appropriate crisis management can turn "crisis" as the "opportunity", improving the interest relations, and establish the good government image. One of the most important factor is the crisis communication management. Crisis communication through the media to link each interest subject, using methods of effective communication and dialogue democracy to form a healthy public opinion environment, and help the crisis resolution, playing the role of crisis communication management.This thesis take the crisis communication management of "8.12" explosion accident in Tianjin Port as a case, by using the case analysis and content analysis methods carry on research.The main content of the thesis is analysis the characteristics of crisis communication management,the causes of these characteristics, as well as coping strategies. The research mainly from the perspective of communication studies and sociology, and also includes the knowledge of management and psychology. The research use agenda-setting theory, the "Spiral of silence" theory, the Social burning theory, the Giddens’ s Dialogue democracy and some other theories to corroborate and analysis on thesis viewpoint.This thesis is written with the structure of "what it is", "why it is", "what to do", which is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is concept definition and the summary of events. This chapter introduces the basic concept of crisis and public crisis, the classification of public crisis and the evolution mechanism of crisis, distinguishing some related concepts of crisis management and crisis communication management, at the end, summarizing the case in this thesis. The second chapter is to analysis characteristics of "8.12" catastrophic explosion accident. Based on the accident reappearance of crisis communication management process, it sums up and analyses the characteristics of the government, mass media and the public. On the whole, government’s arecrisis information not transparent, discourse right being lost and communication inefficiency.Mass media’s characteristics are response rapidly, new media characteristics significantly, the mainstream media no reactions. Public has the strong public opinion field, etc. The third chapter is analyzing the causes of the above characteristics, including the government system’s issues unresolved, crisis consciousness lacked, unskilled the operation of the new media. There are more intimate relationship between new media and traditional media, at the same time, new media become part of the pubic life. The public’s reasons has irrational cognition to government, the difference of "network point of view" and "public opinion", the formation of groups and so on.The fourth chapter is the analysis of government’s crisis communication management strategy.This chapter is written with four stages of crisis, according to each stage put forward the corresponding strategy.
