The Research Of Urban Poverty In The Process Of Urbanization

Urbanization is the inevitable trend in the development of society, it contributes greatly to the development of our economy, we Chinese enjoy the achievement of the urbanization.Comparing to the natural urbanization in western world, the urbanization in China is more likely forwarded by our government, which results in not all the people living in the cities having the access to the urban achievement. For example, for 2.6 hundred million migrant workers, they are unable to enjoy the equal welfare as citizens; for poor citizens whose working ability is absent or health in poor condition,they may lose their decent jobs while so many countryside elites coming to the cities to find jobs. Urbanization brings hope to people, but it makes some people poorer. It seems that urbanization brings more opportunity for people since their incomes are higher,however, there are still many problem to solve, like people living in the urban-village, poor family has no way to provide good education for children, and so on. In this research, urban poverty is so different from the traditional papers. For poor people, they’re not only just the poor with urban household registers, but also migrant workers. To understand what urban poverty is,the essay explained it in employment, social security, children education, housing and interest expression.Our government has taken some methods to improve the income of poor people, like raising the basic level of taxation, creating minimum social security system. However, the migrant workers have no qualification to apply social welfare in some cities, and the related welfare is not much enough to solve the poor problem. Based on above analysis, we need to reconsider the urban poverty in our country and find the problems in our anti-poverty policies, to come up with some attainable suggestions to eliminate urban poverty.This paper makes a list of the current research about urban poverty by analyzing,and the paper are based on three main theory, the culture of poverty, entitlement poverty, and also social capital theory, which are used to analyze the underlying causes of urban poverty and see as principles for suggestions. Meanwhile, the various chart and data clearly proves the serious condition of the urban poverty in our country, it tells us that urban poverty will never be disappearnaturally with the development of economy, especially for these people who lack of work competency, they are treated with no equity in children education, social security, housing and interest expression. As the main leader of anti-poverty, the policies and systems she has built don’t have enough effectiveness. To deal with these problems, some research on the urban poverty of America are done,as well as recommend the process urbanization and three successful anti-poverty methods from the USA. Making some suggestions from employment, social security,income distribution and entitlement protection.
