Literature has the functions of mental medicine, through which one can cure his mental illness. This function of literature has already been recorded in the period of ancient Greece. Along with the development and more profound research of psychotherapy, more and more psychologists have made researches on the curative function of literature, which have produced quite a lot of theoretical and practical achievements and formed reading therapies with extremely special characteristics. Psychologists from Hong Kong, the Taiwan area in China and abroad have carried out many significant studies in the field of reading therapy, and they propel the application of these achievements in all fields. However, Chinese mainland’s study on reading therapy started later, about in 1990s. In recent 20 years, more scholars and experts pay attention to the curative function of literature on individual psychology, but most on the stage of theoretical speculation, with very few empirical studies. So far, there are outstanding psychological problems existing among middle school students in our country. Their mental health education and mental quality education have already drawn highly attention of the educational departments, and these education practices have already been implemented in schools. Therefore, it is of great theoretical and practical significance to positively intervene middle school students’psychological health level through literatures’aesthetic reading, which will cultivate their mental quality and is also a useful exploration on psychological health education and psychological quality education.First of all, learning from existing research achievements in China and abroad as well as combing relevant study results in literature, esthetics, psychology, reading, library science together, this study constructs a mode of psycho-intervened-based literature aesthetic reading, mainly based on individual’s aesthetic laws and reading psychology. This mode consists of two systems:vertical system and horizontal system. The vertical system is mainly based on the subject elements of literature aesthetic reading, showing the realization process of literature aesthetic reading, from the beginning of the reading to the end, including five stages. The horizontal system is mainly based on the object elements of literature aesthetic reading, including the aesthetic characteristics of literature content, the aesthetic principles of literature aesthetic reading, the aesthetic norms of literature aesthetic reading and the aesthetics characteristics possessed by literature aesthetic reading environment. All parts of the horizontal system will influence all stages of literature aesthetic reading, namely affecting all parts of the vertical system. The vertical and horizontal systems will interweave with each other, forming a three-dimensional network structure, which will intervene and affect individuals’psychology through literature aesthetic reading. Secondly, guided by the mode of literature aesthetic reading, this study introduces some psychotherapy technologies such as group-counseling technology, reading therapy technology in this research, and designs literature aesthetic reading activities which can improve students’mental health level based on relevant psychological health theories and psychological quality theories. Thirdly, given the designed literature aesthetic reading activities, this study establishes the selection criteria of literatures for the reading activity. Furthermore, according to established criteria, this study selects 7 themes with 21 articles and then compiles "Aesthetic Reading Manual" which will be used by individual students in literature aesthetic reading activities. Finally, according to designed literature aesthetic reading activities and self-developed "Aesthetic Reading Manual", this study chooses 3 classes (157 middle school students altogether) to carry out two-month literature aesthetic reading interference, which explores the influence of literature aesthetic reading on middle school students’ mental health.The study the following results:(1)The mode of literature aesthetic reading constructed by this study has operability and practicability of some extent.(2)The literature aesthetic reading interference plans designed by this study has validity of some extent to improve and mediate middle school students’mental health.(3)The literature-selection criteria established by this study and the selected literatures are valid for improving middle school students’ mental health, which will provide some references for future research.(4)Overall, literature aesthetic reading activities will remarkably improve middle school students’ mental health level and help every factors of their mental health undergo evident improvement.(5)In terms of on the factors of gender, passion degree for reading, passion degree for literature and the excellence degree of Chinese course, the interfered effects of literature aesthetic reading on middle school students’ mental health do not have remarkable differences.
