| With the social and economic development, the role of higher education is becoming more important, which is reflected that universities are the leading forces of social development. Universities are producing academic products for social progress and providing a strong intellectual support for the society with the type of talents required in all positions to bring their own knowledge and ability into full play. They practice and change our world. In this way, universities are the roles in this society to continuously accumulate and heritage knowledge, constantly innovate and promote it. If a country lacks the development of higher education, there will be no advanced knowledge so that it will fall behind other countries in social development. However, in the wave of this development, funding for higher education also encounters a bottleneck, and government investment in higher education cannot meet the needs of the rapid development of universities. The demand for software and hardware facilities, for teachers, for academic development needs, etc., is required of the strong support of a lot of money, but in the present situation of the development of universities, funding gap is growing, which results in more and more unbalanced improvement in colleges and universities, and it severely restricts universities’healthy development. Whether domestic or foreign colleges, funding support is an important part of the construction, especially in the current state of the global economic downturn, coupled with the reduction of students, their income is tight, and the contradiction is more and more apparent. Domestic and foreign scholars have been aware of significance of funds in the university development.This paper studies colleges and universities as an entry point for social donations, and reviews domestic and foreign scholars’ research based on the analysis of domestic and foreign donations of social status, through a large number of in-depth re-reading the literature, brings out the existing problems of donation in our society. China is now a community in which a good atmosphere of social donation has not yet formed, and it lacks social and legal support for the cultural heritage, institutions of higher education have not yet given enough attention to treatment of social issues about the limited source of income for college funds. In the future development of higher education, the community donating to the university’s financial income will play an increasingly important role. Meanwhile, the paper compares the development of American society, culture and development of donor origin, part of the actual historical data and analysis of the development of the basic situation of donations in American society. In this paper, the establishment of part of the history of famous universities in the United States is taken as examples to describe the origin of the donation of American society and the development process from the time before the founding of United States in the seventeenth century to the development of capitalism in the late nineteenth century. The paper studies the social donations from individuals’ behavior to a process of social behavior. On the other hand, one of the Ivy League, Brown University is used as a research object, and development plans is analyzed since the twenty-first century as well as every detail made into a classification, which shows all aspects of development outcomes in the last ten years, including undergraduate and graduate education, advancing the construction of Brown University faculty, university academic progress and international exchanges and other content, from the latest development by the school reports and relevant data, tables and data in the form of the development status of Brown University. This article is based on the case study of Brown University, puts forward in dealing with social donations and promoting school construction. It also contents the advice to making efforts on the social donations in China. |
