Sports Team: An Empirical Study On The Impact Of Trust On Team Conflict

In contemporary society, team has become the common organization form. Teammembers interact frequently within the team, and they depend on each other by a high degree.Trust is necessary for team members to reach the common goals. Within the team, trust is thebasis and prerequisite of cooperation. Only with trust can team members fully coordinate witheach other. Regards the sports team inside, trust can encourage the coordination between teammembers, reduce conflict, cultivate team consciousness and team cohesion, promote teambuilding, drive team’s benign working and harmonious developing and create the outstandingteam performance. Therefore studying the impact of trust on team conflict management of thesports team has important practical significance.In this research, methods using include documentation analysis, case analysis,questionnaire, logical analysis to study the relationship between trust and conflict of TheCricket team of Shenyang sports university.The results show as below:(1) Team Trust is influential in Team Conflict within sports team. It is that the moretrust, the less conflict within the team. As known, team conflict contains two types: the taskconflict and relationship conflict. Namely the higher level of trust in sports teams, the lesstask conflict happening as well as the relationship conflict.(2) The emotional trust has no significantly on conflict in Sport team with high leveltrust.However, it has different influence to the task conflict and relationship conflict.The higher level of emotional trust in Sports team, the less of relationship conflict aswell as it’s lower ratio of the team conflicts; Relative to more mature sports team, the higherlevel of emotional trust, the more possibilities of task conflict increasing and it’s higherproportion of team conflict.(3) Cognitive trust is influential in Team Conflict within sports team. It shows up thehigher level cognitive trust, the less of team conflict.Meanwhile, sports teams with the highercognitive trust, the task conflict and relationship less.
