Contemporary college students are not only the builders andsuccessors of socialism with Chinese characteristics but also animportant force to achieve the common ideal of socialism withChinese characteristics. Our country is in the period of socialtransformation. The values of college students tend todiversification because of the further development of marketeconomy, the advancement of information technology revolution andthe impact of various values in the globalization process. To agreat extent, it weakens the perception of college students in thecommon ideal of socialism with Chinese characteristics and theeducation.Therefore, under the background of value diversification,strengthening college students’ education for the common ideal ofsocialism with Chinese characteristics becomes an importantsubject to be solved for college education of the ideological andpolitical theory.Firstly, this paper briefly expounds the basic connotations andvalue of the college students’ common ideal, and then combs theideological basis of common ideal education, and explains thecontent, characteristics and significance of college students’common ideal education. Secondly, this paper analyzes the realitybackground of diversified values, and then analyzes theopportunities and challenges that college students’ common idealeducation are faced with under the background of valuediversification. Then, through the questionnaire survey form, this paper discusses the university students’ Identity to the commonideal and education, and then analyzes the reason why collegestudents have the low identity to the common ideal and education.Finally, on the basis of above research, this paper will proposethe related suggestions to strengthen college students’ commonideal education under the background of value diversification. Weshould make the fundamental principle of value diversificationwhich leaded by the common ideal faith, deepening the reform of thecollege students’ common ideal education method. And then we alsoshould create the campus culture for the college students’ commonideal education, construct and improve the mechanism of the collegestudents’ party construction, and strengthen the construction ofideological and political education team.The thesis interprets the essence and value of common idealeducation and the importance of common ideal education for collegestudents with the methods of induction and deduction and furthercards the ideological basis of common ideal education. Based on theprevious content, the thesis summarizes the content, character andsignificance of common ideal education for college students andtries to build a complete theory framework. It takes empiricalresearch methods to do researches on college students’ common dealand education identification in order to get related data toanalysis, which will make the conclusion more convincing. Moreover,it also adopts literature study method and induction method and soon. The research spares no effort to make sure the tightness of thelogic, the integrity of the content, the scientific value of theconclusion. But due to the limited time and scientific researchability, there are still limitations in the thesis such as shallowunderstanding of opportunities gained by value pluralism andinsufficient causal analysis of low identification of collegestudents’ common ideal education.
