Values play an important role in our society and personal life. Any society and personallife goes under the guidance of its values. If the life loses the guidance of values, it will be ameaningless life, and it won’t be a real life. No matter whether people are aware of the effectof values, values always exist in people’s minds and affect people’s thinking, evaluation,choice and action. Because of the guidance of values, there is significance in humans’ livesand we can distinguish the human life from the survival of animals. So the formation anddevelopment of university students’ values is quite important and necessary for their healthygrowth.By analyzing the values and the basic theory of values education in this paper, I elaboratethe plights brought to the work of contemporary university students’ value education by thediversification of value orientation. In addition, I put forward the basic principles ofstrengthening university students’ value education under the diversification of valueorientation. For example, we must adhere to the students-centered principle, the principle ofcombining directional rules with scientific rules, the principle of combining times anddiversity, etc. I also propose some suggestions in education strategy under the diversificationof value orientation. The main content is that directed by the socialism-centered value system,we should follow the socialist concept of honor; We should correctly deal with therelationship between collective and individual and the relationship between demand andcontribution in order to make value education system perfect gradually; As the purelytheoretical knowledge can’t adapt to the needs of the community, we should combine valueeducation with practice and we should proceed from reality to improve the ways of valueeducation; We should adopt the dominant and dominant-recessive education to impart theknowledge of values; We should form a trinity of families, societies and schools to strengthenthe value education; We should make students improve students’ self-awareness so as to betterimprove the timeliness of education.
