Competency Study Of The Non-governmental Organization Leaders In Community Education

At a time when our government is creating a learning society, the non-governmentalorganizations in communities lay a firm foundation in the development of learningcommunity. And the leaders of these organizations are the key to survival anddevelopment. Taking Ningbo for an example, this paper combines quantitativeresearch method with qualitative research method, explores the competencies ofnon-governmental organization leaders in community education, analyses the currentsituation of these leaders’ competencies, identifies the causes of some problems andworks out ways to resolve them effectively, all of which in terms of competency. Thewhole paper includes five chapters as follows:The first chapter is an introduction. Contrasting the non-governmental organization’ssignificant role in constructing the learning society to the development bottleneck ithas faced, this chapter explains the conception of competency and non-governmentalorganization in community education, the relevant study at home and abroad, and alsothe thinking, the framework and creative point of this paper.The second chapter is the identification of these leaders’ competency, it is also thepaper’s theory basic. This chapter uses the behavior event interview method to detectand divides the competency into internal and external dimensions.The third chapter is the investigation of leaders’ competency in Ningbo. It mainlycontains the questionnaire of competency, the general level and special level of eachcompetency, and the gap and courses between ideal situation and the current situation.The fourth chapter is the strategies of leaders’ competency. It takes communitycollege as a starting point, improving these leaders’ competency through curriculum,evaluation and in-out systems, and also interaction platforms.The last chapter is the tag. It sums up the conclusions, the deficiencies and the furtherstudy may occur of this paper.
