As an important component of science created by human, physics is a kind ofnatural science featuring the interaction and movement rule of substance. Physicalexperiment serves a significant approach to enhance the scientific explorativecompetence of students. In order to accelerate the development of informationtechnology in education, a series of policies and principles have been issued by theparty and government to support such a development with digital libraries and virtuallaboratories being developed vigorously. The traditional virtual experiment teachingloses the fundamental objective of physical experiment while pursuing scene fidelityand simulated effect, and students are passively receiving knowledge in this way withthe cultivation of explorative awareness being undermined. Compared with thetraditional virtual experiment teaching, explorative virtual experiment of physicsguided by explorative thinking is more in line with the cognition characteristics andrules of students. As a result, the implementation of explorative virtual experiment ofphysics is increasingly acknowledged by general educators and becomes thedevelopment trend of the traditional virtual experiment. It brings vitality to thetraditional virtual experiment with reduction of cost and difficulty, and enhancementof the initiative in experiment as well as explorative awareness of students. Althoughmany schools and enterprises are devoted to the design and development of theexplorative virtual experiment of physics, no systematic study has been done yet toevaluate the application effect of it. In this paper, we will perform the systematicstudy of the practical application of explorative virtual experiment in high schoolphysics with two experiment cases in the “Animation Class” software for virtualexperiment teaching developed by Tsinghua Tongfang Knowledge NetworkTechnology Co., Ltd.(Beijing) under the guidance of action research method. Thenwe concluded the problems needed to be highlighted in the design of explorativevirtual experiment of high school physics, and the problems of explorative virtualexperiment of high school physics existed in the practical teaching. Some suggestionsfrom the author are also provided with the aim of offering new enlightenments for the further study of explorative virtual experiment.
