Outline of the National Plan for Medium and Long-term Reform and Development ofEducation (2010-2020) and the report of “18thParty Congress” put forward that we shouldinsist on educating people oriented, moral education first, shaping people with virtue.Improving the quality of personnel training comprehensively is the central task of thedevelopment of higher education. Students’ learning quality improvement is thefundament to the improvement of the personnel training quality. Academic achievementsis an important embodiment of learning quality, while academic guidance is an effectivemeasure to improve students’ academic achievements and an effective means to guaranteethe quality of the higher education teaching. It has an important significance to theimprovement of talent training quality. Therefore, we need to know the situation of thecollege students’ academic guidance fully, analyze of the problems deeply, find out thefavorable solutions, strengthen and improve the work university students’ academicguidance, and improve the quality of student learning.Based on the Marxism about the all-round and personality development of humanbeings and system theory, this paper does a systematic research about the students’ studyguidance in colleges and universities. The thesis defines the connotation and purpose ofcollege students’ academic guidance clearly, perfects the specific guidance contents, whichcontain subject study guidance, the course election guidance, the individual developmentguidance and the independent study guidance. And then, the paper explores the practicesand experiences about academic guidance in universities home and abroad, generalizes theexperiences of academic advising in foreign universities, such as the perfect institution,colorful contents and a team of full-time and part-time teachers and so on, which worthabsorbed. At the same time, it provides reference for the analysis of problems existing inour country’s college students’ academic guidance. On the basis of consulted and referredto a large number of documents, the research compiles a questionnaire, combines withinterview method, presents the current situation of college students’ academic guidanceand gives a summary on the achievement and problems. This result provides the referencefor the reform of college students’ academic guidance in colleges and universities. Finally,the paper proposes that colleges and universities should strengthen and pay more attentionto college students’ academic guidance. In the aspect of ideas, they should totallyunderstand the connotations and contents of college students’ academic guidance and make efforts to build the campus culture to promote students’ growth. Leaders at all levelsof universities, teachers and counselors are supposed to pay more attention to collegestudents’ academic guidance. Students should seek help and guidance from teachersactively. In terms of institution, colleges and universities are supposed to establish branchschool guidance, tutorial system and the counselors’ academic guidance. To implementcollege students’ academic guidance work, colleges and universities must make clear thatthe primary responsibility of each group. In the aspect of system construction, collegesand universities should build a complete college students’ academic guidance systemaccording to the principle of system theory. The targets that are included in the system arewhole journey, whole-staff-participation, individuation, professionalization andinformation. Following the principles of entirety, relevance, hierarchy and openness, theyought to construct curriculum system, organization system, team system and supervisionand evaluation system so that the college students’ academic guidance system could beused to promote the all-round and personality development of college students.
