The Study On Chinese Class For Chinese Children In Singapore With Recent Introduction Of New Teaching Methodology

Inaugurated in August2005, Confucius Institute, Nanyang Technological University (CI-NTU) is a joint collaboration between the Office of Chinese Language Council International and Nanyang Technological University. It is the first Chinese language and cultural school in Singapore co-sponsored by the Chinese central government, with the mission of strengthening Singapore’s Mandarin capabilities, providing Singapore with a common platform in learning Chinese language and culture, and enhancing the communication link between Singapore and Chinese communities in other parts of the word. It is an important Chinese language and cultural institute and remains to be the sole Confucius Institute in Singapore. Top Chinese Enrichment Programmes for Chinese children are specially designed to target the needs of Primary school students to improve their command of the Chinese language. Classes are conducted by well trained, passionate teachers and professionals while the lessons synchronized with the Ministry of Education syllabus and examination guidelines are well blended with culture and language in order to inspire the students and fully prepare them for examination.Chapter One starts from the background and significance of the research, literature review and the object of study and research mentality.Chapter Two analyzes the Chinese education reform in Singapore, discusses the Chinese language teaching for Chinese children based on recent introduction of new teaching methodology.Chapter Three is going to investigate the Chinese class for Singapore Chinese children. Chapter Four analysis the features of classes for Chinese children in Confucius Institute, NTU, discuss the implementation effect of recent introduction of new teaching methodology and comes up with the enlightenment on teaching Chinese as foreign language for children in China.
