Since the autonomous enrollment reform was carried out for more than10years, the number of pilot universities has reached90. However, there emerges some problems, such as the convergence of talent promotion standards, the dissimilation in the autonomous enrollment and so on. Based on previous research, the author proposed a set of assessment criteria for the validity of autonomous enrollment system.Unlike previous studies, the author conducts questionnaire and interview to research the validity of autonomous enrollment system in three ways:the selection criteria, the training model and process, the students’development. The author analyse the change of standards by collecting the related documents issued by the Ministry of education (from2003-2013) and the self-enrollment brochure of six top universities. The author assesses the selection means by the subjects changing and difficulty analysis of examination; studies the differences between self-enrollment students and the others, especially in disciplinary potential.Research shows that, the selection of the target has transfored from the "comprehensive development" to focusing on "the subject specialty and innovation potential"; winning in competition has accounted for a larger proportion in the selection criteria; the reduction of subject amounts and difficulty for examination; characteristics of the training mode of top-notch innovative experimental class are first-class teachers, internationalization and personalization. Research of Shanghai A university shows that, are more willing to join in active cooperative learning and community, they have more overseas learning experience and so on; while, there is no significant difference between the self-enrollment students and others in academic interest, academic achievement, further study will. To strengthen the reform and innovation, the author gives some suggestions to select the students with special abilities.
