With the continuous advancing of new curriculum reform, classroom teaching of geography insenior high school has also made unceasing improvement according to the standard of newcurriculum reform, which leads to profound innovation in the aspects of teaching idea, teachingmethod, teaching objective and teaching process, etc. Although it has achieved some progress, thereare still some problems. Taking classroom teaching of senior high school geography of HongyaMiddle School in Sichuan Province as the research object, the paper analyzes and discusses thestatus quo and existing problems of current classroom teaching of geography in senior high school,provides corresponding effective teaching measures, as well as effectively carries out an open classof senior high school geography teaching. The paper is divided into five parts:The first part: based on new curriculum reform, it puts forward the research background ofeffective classroom teaching of senior high school geography and the research status of the field ofeffective teaching at home and abroad, thus pointing out the research significance and researchmethod of the topic.The second part: it interprets the concept of the professional term “effective teaching”,explores its origin and implication, and puts forward theoretical basis supporting “effectiveteaching”.The third part: by conducting questionnaire survey on the status quo of senior high schoolgeography class of Hongya Middle School in Sichuan Province, it analyzes and concludes thestatus quo of senior high school geography class teaching under current situation and reasons forteaching inefficiency.The fourth part: aiming at existing problems of inefficiency in the status quo of senior highschool geography class obtained from above investigation and study, the paper expounds thestrategy of specifically implementing effective teaching in senior high school geography class, so as to achieve the purpose of promoting geography class teaching efficiency.The fifth part: Taking62students from Class One, Grade1of Hongya Middle School asresearch objects, it conducts teaching design and teaching implementation on the lesson TheEvolution of Man-land Relationship Theory, and the effectiveness of classroom teaching isreflected by students’ feedback, peer evaluation, scale assessment as well as self-evaluation, thusproviding practical experience for carrying out geography classroom teaching.
