Selections from Records of the Historian (Jiangsu Education Publishing House)becomes a subject in high school, which let students know more about Chinese rich culture,wisdom, and thoughts. Students will be exposed to excellent Chinese culture and tradition.Through the learning process, students can develop the habit of independent thinking andquestion probing. However, while teaching, teachers focus more on the tool use oftextbook instead of the humanity function, and students become passive learners, which ison the opposite path of the Curriculum Reform. This article analyzes the abovephenomenon, and reorganizes the content of Selections from Records of the Historian.Meanwhile, after adding some classic poems, the textbook consists of five theme topicsand concentrates more on the humanity function. To achieve effective teaching, teachersneed to become an organizer and promoter of learning activities, and encourage studentsdo more independent, cooperative, and researching learning. Students should become anindividual reader on his own. This article offers several independent and cooperativelearning methods, which should benefit teachers.
