China is now in the stage of quality education. During the transitionfrom "examination-oriented education" to "quality education", physical education classesare faced with the critical issue of how to help students acquire knowledge and skills in arelaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. Based on the concept of "health first" and the policyof combining physical education with health education, physical education should focus ondeveloping students’ interest and ability in lifelong sport. The paper, using the methods of literature, expert interviews, questionnairesurvey, mathematical statistics and logical analysis, explores and investigates the currentsituation and influencing factors of the sports lifestyle among students in four-star seniorhigh schools in the Gusu District of Suzhou. The results are shown as follows. Students in the four-star senior high schools in theGusu District of Suzhou generally hold positive attitudes toward physical education, butare weak in the "lifelong sports" awareness. There are significant differences betweenmale students and female students in their way of participation in lifestylesports. Compared with female students, male students have stronger awareness of activeparticipation in physical exercises. The frequency of physical activity takes on a "U”shape. Lacking diversity, sports consumption mode remains at a relatively lowlevel. Physical exercises mainly focus on the sports items that have lower requirement forequipment, technical capacity and consumption. New sports items and traditionalfolk sports activities have not been fully developed and effectively carriedout. The limitation of sporting venues, the singleness of sports items, the lack of guidanceand organization, the pressure from the college entrance examination and parents’ weakconsciousness in sports are the main obstacles that restrict the effective launching of“Sunny Sports” among the students in the four-star senior high schools in the Gusu District of Suzhou. Senior high school period is the fundamental stage when personal sportslifestyle is formed. Therefore, the active launching of “Sunny Sports” is an effectivemeans to promote the formation of students’ sports lifestyle.
