The earliest research on Frustration Coping dates back to the study of Ego Psychology by Sigmund Freud in1980s, who believed that Defense Mechanism of individual distorts realities in order to avoid or reduce the negative emotional states, especially the anxieties. Studies confirm that the level of Frustration Coping Capacity has a very important role to the success in life, it can be a better reaction of individual social adaption, ability to resist pressure, self-regulation and emotion control, etc. Each one has his/her own style of frustration coping, for example:rational analysis, lessons learned, target sublimation, adjust expectations, Directional transfer, self-comforting, self-expression, seek help, laissez-faire, self-abandonment, depressed, anxiety and irritable, negative mood and so on. Throughout history, most people who can achieve remarkable success taking positive coping style when he/she confront with setbacks. Positive responses help them overcome frustration, drawing energy from the failure, with constantly transcending themselyes the achieved their personal goals and values. And those who are accustomed to using negative frustration coping styles, is characterized by poor social adaptation ability, interpersonal difficulties, lack of confidence, then followed by depression, anxiety, irritability, explosive irritability, emotional instability, etc., seriously affect his/her development in physical and mental health. University stage is one of the most important stages in the growth and development of life, therefore the healthy development of body and mind attract the extensive attentions of the entire social. Undergraduates always facing with:studies, interpersonal communication, life difficulties, emotional issues, bad employment circumstance, etc. these frustrations are the main difficulties during college time. Way sand styles undergraduates coping with frustrations have great influences on them now and future.Researches about Frustration Coping Style and Mental Health of College Students has made some achievements, but there is very few researches on relationship between Coping style and mental health in recent years, and the data analysis methods are simple. This paper have a deep research on relationship between frustration coping styles and mental health. For example, whether or not there is different in any facts of mental health because of different coping styles, and between grades, between signal-parent children and two-parent. Above all this research has a positive effect on understanding of undergraduates’coping styles and mental health states, helps them cultivate positive frustration coping style, improves their frustration coping capacity and have a healthy development.The report was based on a survey of about450students from different grades (freshman, sophomore, junior and senior) and colleges such as Yangtze University Jingzhou Vocational and Technical College, Hunan Changsha, Hunan Chinese Traditional Medical University, use standard questionnaires made by Xiting Huang and CCDMHS by the Ministry of Education of China. At last got379valid questionnaires from396and the valid response rate is84.23%. Study using the survey data to conduct descriptive statistical analysis, find out frustration coping style and mental health state. Then finds out the variables of mental health and coping style between grades, genders, ethnic groups, native places, single or two parent, the only child or not, by using independent T-test. To respond to such factors as independent variables manner, mental health questionnaire and factor as the dependent variable, multivariate stepwise regression analysis, testing frustration coping predict college mental health. Findings are as follows:(1) College students scored lower points in positive coping style (such as:Problem resolution, seeking help, metastasis) than negative coping style like complain, fantasy, escape and repression. Facing frustration undergraduates always take positive style with multiple methods.(2) Students showed differences between grades in Problem resolution, seeking help and escape, Freshman<Sophomore<Junior<Senior. States of metastasis and problem resolution is Freshman>Sophomore>Junior>Senior. There is not remarkable difference in other factors.(3) Girls scored lower points in some factors, like seeking help, repression, endurance and fantasy.(4) No remarkable score difference in major, parent state, ethnic group and so on.(5) Rural students scored significantly higher than students in the city on the way to deal with depressed.(6) Only children scored significantly lower than non-only children in complaining, escape, fantasy, repression, etc.(7) Mental health of university students is a basic level. In the low self-esteem, paranoia, social withdrawal, scoring on impulse factor, higher than the national norm, and in somatization, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive, dependent, psychopathy factor score is below the national norm.(8) Students’Mental Health show significant differences in social withdrawal and forcing, higher grades students scored lower than students in lower grades.(9) Gender Differences in Mental Health, the boys on impulse and social attacks scored higher than girls, the difference was significant; girls scored significantly higher than boys in dependent.(10) Artsy classmates in college scored higher than science students in somzatization and forcing, the difference was significant.(ll)Rural students scored higher than students from city in social withdrawal, the difference was significant.(12) Mental health of college students between only children and non-only children has no significant difference. In comparison with non-parent families in single-parent families, students in self-esteem and social withdrawal scored significantly higher.(13) Mental health of college students on ethnic differences, Han students’anxiety level is higher than the minority students, a significant difference.(14) Complaints, fantasy, retreat, depression, patience, escape and most factors of mental health is significantly negative correlation; Metastasis, problem solving, seeking help with most of the factors was significantly positively related to mental health(15) Regression analysis showed that college students’frustration coping played a significant role in prediction of mental health. Retreat, depression, fantasy, has significant predict effect to somatization; Fantasy, depressed, to escape the anxiety, depression has significant predict effect to anxiety, depression and low self-esteem; Escape, depressed, for help and complaints has significant predict effect to social withdrawal; Escape and fantasy has significant predict effect to social attack; Fantasy and retreat has significant predict effect to sexual psychology; Escape, seeking help and fantasy has significant predict effect to rely on; Withdrawn, depression, metastasis, fantasy, has better prediction effect to psychiatric morbidity.
