The present article surveyed Southwest University (SWU) adult higher education freshmen withthe hope to explore the frustrations types and coping styles and try to find out it essences, offer possibleconstructive suggestions to the management of adult higher education freshmen..This study adopts "The Questionnaires of Frustration of College Students"(Wan Xiaotian 2003)and "The Coping Styles Questionnaire" (3rd edition)(Xiao Jihua 1996) to do the survey.The results are as following:1. Freshmen in adult higher education suffer more frustrations brought by punishment, familyrelationships, learning environment and the adaptation to environment than the freshmen of regularhigher education. And freshmen in adult higher education have lower self-esteem.2. Male freshmen in adult higher education suffer more frustrations brought by self-esteem, familyrelationships and the adaptation to environment than the female freshmen in adult education. Thefemale in adult education bear more pressure of the frustrations which come from the study of selfdetermination than the male.3. The coping styles of frustrations of freshmen in adult higher education are self-blame, fantasy,withdraw and rationalization.4. When they encountered frustration, the male in adult higher education always use the copingstyles of self-blame, withdraw and rationalization. The female always look for helps.According to the analyses of the results, some suggestions are provided for the management offreshmen of adult education in regular higher education: Strengthening the frustration education forstudents in adult education; Using various ways to deal with different problems according to thestudents' characteristics, using mature copying strategies and so on. The present article creatively combined "The Questionnaires of Frustration of College Students"and "The Coping Styles Questionnaire" in the survey and compared the data with Regular Institutionsof Higher Learning students, this will enable us to find out the ways to improve the students' copingstrategies; This article extended the study on adult education students, and prospected the possiblefurther study.
