Teaching material is the carrier of reflecting a certain teaching thoughtand is the core part of the component of the classroom teaching, it is also themain tool and basis of the teaching activities between teachers and students.Published by foreign language press, written by Chen Lin, Junior High SchoolEnglish Book for Grade Seven(FLTRP2012edition,volume1) was widelyused. However, There is only little related analysis on the Teaching material.Therefore, the author tries to do this study according to her own years ofexperience in teaching English, investigation of students’ book case, andinvestigation of the situation of teachers’ textbooks, adopts the materialanalysis, questionnaire survey method and the interview method. incombination with Qiao Ailing’s macro and micro theoretical guidance andChengXiaotang and Jo McDonough&Christopher Shaw’s internal andexternal theoretical guidance as an evaluation. Based on the use of thestudent’s book and the investigation about the teacher use the Teachingmaterial to analyze the book and give some reference opinions about theEnglish teaching materials’s selection and preparation of junior middle school.Research found that both the teachers and students have high evaluation in thelanguage knowledge and language skills, thinking teaching can effectivelyimprove learners’ comprehensive language using ability. There are also somedeficiencies in the textbook, such as grammar exercises design is too easy.It mainly divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction, including the research purpose ofthis paper, the research significance, research contents and methods,definition of the concept, the evaluation theory basis adopted in this paper, theinnovation and shortcoming points and the main frame structure of theresearch materials. The second chapter is the literature review part, including the definitionof the concept and the evaluation of the teaching materials at home andabroad.The third chapter is the text analysis on Junior High School EnglishBook for Grade Seven(FLTRP2012edition,volume1). First, from themacroscopic aspect, to make a discourse analysis on the design principle ofthe teaching material, the general guiding ideology of the teaching material,the structure of the teaching materials and the compile level and context.Secondly, from the micro aspect, the author mainly analyzes the languageknowledge,(including pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, functions andtopics) in five aspects; language skills,(including listening, speaking, readingand writing skills), emotional attitude and cultural awareness and learningstrategies.The fourth chapter is the questionnaire survey and analysis of the results,in this section, according to the content of the text analysis, the studentquestionnaire survey and data analysis to dynamic analyze the teachingmaterial.The fifth chapter is the conclusion. The teaching materials in suchaspects as language knowledge and skills to improve students’ comprehensiveability of using language, recognized by most of the teachers and students. Ifwe can use the book flexibly, it will be good for us. And then list somesuggestions to improve the teaching material and in using teaching material.
