The new curriculum standard for senior high physics vigorously promote scientific inquiry, and aclear requirement for scientific inquiry and the high school physics experiment ability are made, theschools and teachers began to pay more attention to the cultivation of students’ scientific research ability.These changes have promoted the domestic researches on evaluation methods of scientific inquiry abilitytoo. Many scholars said that in their study, the model that worksheet with the pencil-and-paper test shouldbe more suitable for the assessment of students’ scientific exploration ability in China. The model is used inmy thesis to establish physics experiment exploring ability evaluation system to evaluate high schoolstudents’ ability of inquiry physics experiment. In this study, according to the PTA scale based onevaluation index system of physical experiment firstly, then determine the weight of index system by theDelphi Method, finally according to structural worksheet with paper-and-pencil test volume to analyzingthe students’ test results then conclude the present situation of high school students’ physics experimentinquiry ability.This thesis is composed of five chapters to complete the narrative of the research. Chapter1andChapter2are the theoretical research, expound the background of the thesis, the research status andsignificance, and the relevant physical experiment to explore the theoretical basis of evaluation, includingscientific inquiry ability, physical experiment exploration such as definition of the core concepts and theintroduction of performance assessment methods and the selection basis of evaluation method on this study.Chapter3and Chapter4are the empirical research part, describe the establishment of the evaluation system,physical experiment exploration testing process and the analysis of the evaluation results in detail as theyare the main components of the thesis. The research had carried on expert investigation by inviting theexpert panel so as to determine weights of evaluation index system, and had finished the test to differentlevels of senior high school students of Xinxiang City with the related testing tools, the test results showthat the average score of the students rate reached78%, but some ability index score is low. The lastchapter is a summary of research results, analysis of the shortcomings of this research, and makesexpectation for the further study.The results showed that:(1) the evaluation model that work with the pencil-and-paper test can better evaluate the students’ physics experiment inquiry ability.(2) the current high school students havealready had a basis of experiment exploring ability, good performance in the inquiry activities, but someelements is still deficiency. It shows that the present experiment teaching is not comprehensive for thecultivation of experimental inquiry ability and improvement is needed.(3) In the implementation of the testI found that students feel strange to the evaluation of experiment exploring ability and they are lack ofscientific literacy. It further reveals that an improvement to the current educational evaluation system isneeded.
