Objective:The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of fat reduction of cornpeptides on obese rats resulted from high fat diet and to determine its mechanism: therole of adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL) and lipoprotein lipase (LPL).Material and Methods:150male SD rat (4weeks age) were randomly divided into control group (C, n=15)and obese model group (M, n=135). Rats of control group were fed with normal dietwhile obese model group rats fed with high fat diet for8weeks.40of obese ratswhose body weight increased by20%of the mean value of control group wereselected and divided into5groups,8rats in each group: obesity control group (normaldiet), casein group (casein diet), corn peptides group (corn peptides), exercise group(exercise combined with normal diet) and exercise+corn peptides group (excisecombined with corn peptides diet). The rats of exercise group and exercise+cornpeptides group underwent aerobic endurance excise for4weeks at speed of15m/minand lasting60min per time (6times/week). After4weeks of intervention, the bloodsof rats were drawn and the levels of plasma TG, TCH, HDL and LDL were detected. The perinephric and epididymal fat were collected and weighed as well as the proteinlevels of ATGL in livers and LPL in adiposes were detected by Western Blotting.Results:1. Compared with obesity control group, the body weight of rats in exercise group andcorn peptides+exercise group were decreased obviously, while no difference wasfound in rats of corn peptides group and casein group.2. The weights of perinephric and epididymal fat, the ratios of perinephric fat withbody weight and the ratios of epididymal fat with body weight were significantreduced in rats of exercise group and corn peptides+exercise group, with moreobvious in latter group. No difference was shown in rats of corn peptides group andcasein group compared with obesity control group.3. Compared with obesity control group, the plasma levels of TG and TCH weredecreased in rats of exercise group and corn peptides+exercise group, while remainunchanged in rats of corn peptides group, casein group and exercise group. Theplasma levels of HDL and LDL had no significant difference among the five groups.4. The protein levels of ATGL in livers and LPL in adipose were significant increasedin rats of exercise group and corn peptides+exercise group, with more remarkable inlatter group. No difference was shown in rats of corn peptides group and casein groupcompared with obesity control group. Conclusion:1. The body weight and body fat of obese rats were significant decreased by aerobicexercise and corn peptides in combination with exercise, with more obvious in thelatter, while corn peptides without exercise did not exert such effect.2. The levels of plasma TG and TCH in obese rats were reduced by corn peptide withexercise, which were not found in rats of corn peptides group. Corn peptides with orwithout exercise play no role on the plasma levels of HDL and LDL.3. The effect of weight and fat reduction of corn peptides with exercise may be relatedto the increase of protein level of ATGL in livers and the enhancement of protein levelof LPL in adipose.
