Objective:This study aims to explore the effects of the Inertial Barbell Training on trunk muscle strength andbalance ability, and this instability exercise on trunk muscle, and then to guide the training ofcorestability strength.Methods:26male college students were randomly divided into two groups: the oscillation one and therotation one, bothcontenting13subjects. All subjects trained for8weeks. The isometric orisokinetic strength indexes of trunk muscles and balance ability were tested before and aftertraining. Three indexes including stability index, the average tracing error(ATE) and subregionATE weretestedwiththe PROKIN-Systembalanceinstrument.Results:(1) Trunk muscle strength test: the peak torque of the trunk muscles were increased significantlyafter training, including the flexor, extensor peak torque at60°/s and/or150°/s, also at isometricor isokinetic conditions(P<0.05). After training the mean value of all texted index in rotationgroup was higher than those in oscillation one, and there appeared significant difference in150°/svalidity (P <0.05).(2)For the static balance test, after eight-week training, when comparing between the two testgroups, there was no significant difference(P>0.05); when comparing within each group, therewas no significant difference(P>0.05).(3)For the dynamic balance test, in both groups, when compared with the pre-exercise, stabilityindex and ATE were decreased significantly in post-exercise(P<0.05). In rotation group, theS2-ATE(right front)(%) and S7-ATE(left front)(%) were decreased significantly(P<0.05),andin oscillation group, theS2-ATE(right front)(%)、S5-ATE(bottom left)(%)、S6-ATE(left behind)(%) and S7-ATE(left front)(%)were decreased significantly(P<0.05).Conclusions:(1) The Inertial Barbell Training significantly improves isometric and isokinetic flexion strengthof the trunk, and then improves the motor control ability.(2)By the improvement of rectus abdominis especially external oblique muscle of abdomen, instability training can improves the dynamic stable ability and motor control on the left front andright front. In addition,,oscillation movement training is more significanton the improvement ofthe trunk muscle group.(3)Inertial Barbell can be used as the core stability and core strength training equipment, but weshould choose the appropriate movement or action according to the actual training requirements. This also has the importance to guide the training of core core strength and core stability.
