College students are the talents of high level that our nation cultivates, carrying thefamily, school, society’s expectations. The responsibilities of era they shoulder require themnot only to have scientific and cultural quality, but also to have good individual quality andemotional will. This means that the college students should not only have a high IQ, but alsohave a high EQ. But some contemporary college students’ EQ level is not high, which can bereflected in the following aspects: their cognition and control of emotion is not good, theirinterpersonal skills are low, their sense of responsibility is bad, and their ability ofpsychological debugging is low. All these problems influence the progress and developmentof college students. Therefore EQ education for college students is helpful to improve theability of their cognitive emotion and emotional management, help to improve their ability ofinterpersonal communication, help them to develop the potential ability of continuouslearning, and help to improve their integration into the community.EQ education for college students is an important content of ideological and politicaleducation. But there exist many problems at present about EQ education in colleges anduniversities, such as educational orientation deviation, lack of education content, the old andsingle education method and the insufficient attention to the environment of social educationand family education. Therefore, in order to train students to become talents meeting therequirements of the social development, colleges and universities must transform the path ofemotional education of college students. In this paper, the principle and method of collegestudents’ EQ education will be discussed, and the relevant principles of EQ Education will beconstructed which include the combination of dominant characteristic and subjectivity, thecombination of systemic and innovation, the combination of both theory and practice, and thecombination of individual and society. This thesis also explores the specific operation methodof college students’ EQ education, including changing the concept of education, improving theEQ education system and mechanism, improving the EQ education content construction,enriching EQ education carrier, building related EQ education position, and providing the EQeducation guarantee. This paper conducted in-depth thinking and research on EQ education contents, in orderto implement the effective EQ education in colleges and universities, and provide inferencefor improving the overall quality of students.
