The Results of2010National Survey of Students’ Physical Fitness and Health showsthat the morphogenesis and nutritional status of the students keep improving, but healthyproblems have not been thoroughly solved. Decision of the CCCPC on Some Major IssuesConcerning Comprehensively Deepening the Reform make it clear to strengthen PE classteaching and out-class exercise so as to enhance physical and mental health of the youth;improve aesthetic education to improve the students’ aesthetic and humanisticaccomplishment. Under this background, this thesis applies proper teaching methods andmeans which are suitable for the physical and mental development of the youth in aerobicsteaching of children, hoping for effective improvement of the physical and mental qualityof the children as well as providing research methods and ideas for the research onphysical and mental quality of other age students. The research takes primary school students of grade four as the subjects and theexperimental group students are offered15weeks of aerobics classes, three classes perweek. In the process of teaching, scientific and reasonable teaching and training methodsare adopted based on the characters of aerobics and physical and mental developmentcharacteristics of youth, in the hope of improving the physical and mental quality of thestudents.Analysis of the physical quality data of before and after experiment shows that thephysical and mental quality of the experimental group has been improved obviously afterhalf-year aerobics training. The flexibility, explosive force, strength, endurance, speed ofreaction, speed of action and aerobic endurance of the students all improved greatly(P<0.01) compared with those of before experiment. Meanwhile, the control groupstudents were taught and did other sports activities. Data show that only the strength andendurance of the boys have been improved obviously compared with those of beforeexperiment and the reaction speed of girls has fallen down slightly. Other items of physicalquality only changed a little. As for the mental quality, after half-year’s aerobics learning, the students inexperimental group enhanced self awareness, formed a strong will and strengthened collective spirits. Aerobics has stimulated and developed the students’ interest in sportslearning as well, and helped them learn sports skills actively instead of passively, which ishelpful for forming the concept of lifelong sports. The results show that aerobics has a positive role in promoting the physical and mentalquality of the children, especially the physical quality. It is suggested that aerobics teachingin primary school should be enhanced greatly based on interest, the physical health of thestudents should get improved from childhood, and that mental quality and socialadaptability of the students should be improved at the same time.
