Every autumn, a large number of elementary school graduates enter secondary schools. Although elementary schools and secondary schools both belong to compulsory education, the education environment and the pressures upon schoolwork are quite different. What’s more, it is an important turning period of their physical and mental state. The enrollment adaptation of the elementary-to-secondary students reflects their development requirements from early youth to the youth, from immaturity to maturity, from dependence to independence. If they cannot be given scientific guidance and adapt passively at the discretion of themselves at this time, it may bring them some negative influence such as depression and dejection. This may not only be a severe setback to their study enthusiasm, but also cause some psychological problems due to their doubt of themselves and self-denial. This may also influence their physical and mental development in the future. However, the research data about the enrollment adaptation problem are comparatively inadequate and lack of relatively mature practice patterns. Furthermore, many secondary schools neglect the adaptation problem and do not have many ways of education. Therefore, it is necessary to learn more about the students’ confusion and maladjustment by research when they enter secondary schools from elementary schools and face all the changes, such as the campus environment, the learning partner, the learning style, the evaluation system, the physical and mental development, and so on. It is necessary to give students specific guidance and education in order to let students adjust and reassure themselves and adapt to the transitional period as quickly as possible and as well as possible. Their pleasant physical and mental development can lay a foundation for the whole junior period to the senior period. This research uses different methods such as literature research and textual analysis and predecessors’ research findings are collected and used for reference as well. Observation survey methods such as questionnaire and interview are used to analyze the current situation of the enrollment adaptation of the elementary-to-secondary students, especially the existing problems. The action practice method is also used to carry out series of enrollment adaptation activities. Through the research, we can find out the following phenomena:(1)Year7new students are always reluctant to give up their lifestyles in primary schools and usually find it difficult to quickly adapt to the new environment and lifestyles, which engenders bad moods like nervousness and helplessness.(2) Some of the Year7new students may not adapt to the new learning habits and learning methods when facing the increasing subjects, the increasing difficulty, the increasing homework and the increasing demands on self-study ability. Rapidly they cannot have good grades, and then they will become anxious and irritable. Each Year7new student will face the adaptive process of changing his own former knowledge and action. In this process, not only the campus and the environment are changed, the interpersonal interaction scope is conversed, but also the learning style is changed. These changes are influenced not only by the new student himself, but also by the external factors like schools, parents and teachers. This means all sides should put in enough resource and energy to work together to improve these new students adaptation situation. The enrollment education to the new students plays an active guiding role in the healthy growth of the elementary-to-secondary students. This requires that we should set the enrollment adaptation education to the new students as the important part of school education and strengthen the communication interaction among teachers, parents and students through different ways such as campus activities, psychological education, guidance on learning methods and parents’ schools, in order to provide Year7new students with prompt and specific support and interference. We hope to help these new students shorten the adaptation period and actively adapt to the new environment and fit themselves for the secondary school life.
