The development and implementation of the National Curriculum Standard is a trend of curriculum reform of countries all over the world. The implementation and achievement of the curriculum standard is an important factor that decides whether the curriculum reform successes or not, and ensures the quality of education. In June2010, the United States formally issued the Common Core State Standards. Subsequently, the "Common Core Organization" introduced a set of material tools named "the Common Core Curriculum Maps", which was the first one and had the most extensive influence on carrying out the curriculum standard. Then, how do the maps implement the curriculum standard? How do we design and prepare a map? What characteristics do the maps have? Can they bring any meaningful enlightenment to our country’s basic education of native language?This paper mainly introduces the achievement and concept of the Common Core Curriculum Maps, and also thinks about how to develop the curriculum standard and imitate the curriculum maps in our Chinese basic education of native language. This paper is composed of an introduction and a main body. The introduction part not only elaborates the origin and background of this thesis, but also defines the core concepts involved in this thesis to focus the research core.The main body part includes four chapters. The first chapter analyzes the Common Core State Standards from two aspects:the structure and the content. During the process of contrasting with the Californian Curriculum Standards, the CCSS highlights the clear goal, specific content, advanced strategy, and measurable evaluation. In the second chapter, the Common Core Curriculum Maps were introduced in detail and presented clearly from three dimensions including its framework, structure and content.The third chapter refines the characteristics of the maps from the design concept and content presentation. In terms of the design concept, the maps possess the characteristics of dynamic design, differential teaching instruction, and the emphasis of media skills. Then in terms with the content presentation, the maps focus on connections among subjects, emphasize art guide, and keep enriching and developing. During the course of exploring into the content and the characteristics of the maps, we can find that the Common Core Curriculum Maps have various functions such as analyzing curriculum standard, guiding curriculum planning, forming learning communities, instructing teachers to carry out the curriculum standards, and playing a mediate role in students’ learning.The fourth chapter puts forward some suggestions to perfect our basic education standards, and try to develop the curriculum maps of our country.
