With the development of the basic education reform and the implementation of teachers’professional standards, the teachers’ professional development has become the trend of education reform.Rewarding and punishing evaluation of teachers is severely affected by the examination oriented educationin Chinese current system, teachers become the tools of managers; the teacher’s own development isignored; we pay attention to the evaluation results purely, and cannot give the teacher a fair and objectiveevaluation. Teachers’ professional development is a dynamic process; it pay the main part of teacher;teachers need to clearly recognize their own status in the process of the development and stage ofdevelopment. Teachers’ professional development needs to have a scientific evaluation system to guarantee,and to promote the professional development of teachers, the improvement of teaching quality and achievethe goals of the school. Therefore, the teacher evaluation must be changed from the past evaluation mode,using the developmental teacher evaluation which is the teachers’ professional development evaluation, toevaluate teacher’s work and development objectively and periodically.Domestic research on teachers’ evaluation is less; it has not caused enough attention to theteacher evaluation while the teachers’ professional development is much valued. The teacher professionaldevelopment evaluation is based on the professional development of teachers and the developmentalevaluation; it is a developmental evaluation of teachers as the purpose of teacher professional development.The evaluation of teacher professional development serves to emphasize the teachers’ main role in theprocess of professional development, arousing the enthusiasm through active participation of teachers. It iseasier to understanding their selves for the high school geography teachers in the future, and urging them tohave a purposeful, planned, continuing plan towards the specialization. In addition, the implementation of<middle school teachers’ professional standard> provides standards for teacher’s professional development,so teachers’ professional standard as the evaluating indicators of teachers’ professional development is morepractical significance. The teachers’ evaluation based on professional standard would play a role in thepromotion and supervision inevitability, and guarantee the process of teachers’ professional development.The article is based on the high school geography teachers in Pingdingshan city of Henan -Province as the research object, using literature method, questionnaire survey method, data analysis andother research methods, combining with the research on teachers’ evaluation of the domestic andinternational theory, illustrating the basic theory of the current teachers’ professional developmentevaluation and the reality basis, understanding the situation and the high school geography teachers’ viewof evaluation system. Based on the questionnaire analysis, most of the geography teachers think that thecurrent evaluation subject and evaluation basis is relatively single; the school just blindly attaches greatimportance to the evaluation results. However, teacher’s attitude towards teachers’ evaluation is positive.We hope that the scientific and reasonable evaluation system for teachers’ professional development wouldplay a promoting role. Therefore, it’s necessarily to establish corresponding professional developmentevaluation.Based on the geography teachers’ reality, we will dividing the course of geography teachers’professional development into following four stages, with the three dimensions, fourteen areas of the"professional standards" as the teacher evaluation index, using data to analyze and summarize each ofevaluation index weight, working out the professional development evaluation scale of the geographyteachers in high school.The innovation of this paper lies in, through the study of the domestic and foreign teachers’professional development evaluation and the investigation of the senior geography teacher evaluation forthe present situation, understanding the high school geography teacher’s view to the evaluation system andthe future direction of teacher evaluation system, confirming the practical significance for the high schoolgeography teacher to the research of teachers’ professional development evaluation, filling the gaps in thestudy of the teachers’ professional development evaluation in the subject of geography. In addition, thisstudy also uses three dimensions and four field of the <middle school teachers’ professional standards(forTrial Implementation)> as the evaluation index of teachers’ professional development evaluation. In theprecondition of the implementation of the professional standards, it could strengthen the significance of theteachers’ professional development evaluation.
