Nowadays,aging of population has become a main trend in social population development. Thedramatic increase of the population of old people is bringing many unexpected problems to society, as wellas some side effects. As an effective and important means to improve both physical and mentalhealth,eliminate disease and prolong life and satisfy the need of social communications of the old, physicalexercises are being liked by more and more old people. Now, the old doing exercises is being seeneverywhere. How to improve the physical health of such an enormous number through more scientific andeffective physical exercises and better organizations is a hot topic.This paper applies literature, interview,questionnaire,mathematical and statistics and logical analysismethods to investigate and analyze the status quo of people above60doing exercises in Anyang, includingWenfeng area, Beiguan area, Yindu area and Longan area. The researching questions of this paper aremainly related with the basic pattern of daily physical exercises of the old, such as the exact time and howlong to exercise, weekly frequency and intensity of exercise,items, place and motive of exercise, which canobjectively show the status quo of the old doing exercises in Anyang. Then this paper goes deep toinvestigate the people in charge of organizing and instructing old people doing exercises, with the intent tofind out the main problems in management.The research findings show that old people in Anyang have strong sense of physical exercises andmost of them take part in physical activities in daily life.In respect of the time to do exercises, the old tendto do exercises before8AM and5to8PM, which means most old people have enough exercisingtime.Since they are influenced by the decline of their physiological function,old people take exercises ofmiddle or low intensity. the old often choose simple and easy-doing exercises which have low requirementfor the place, which fast-walking,low-speed-running, gymnastic exercises and square dancing are the mainitems;they like free and spacious place, especially public squares and parks;Old people in Anyang mostlydo exercises alone or with family members or friends, whereas, they seldom take part in officiallyorganized exercises.But formal instructions for and scientific ways of doing exercises can’t be guaranteed.Their direct motive of doing exercises are to stay healthy and strong, social interactions. Some factors restrict old people to do exercises, which are lack of exercising places and equipments,sports professionalsports organization and management personnel elderly is not high, not equipped with professional socialsports instructors and management of financial constraints, etc. are the main factors affecting the elderly toparticipate in physical exercise.Based on the above investigation and analysis, this paper concludes the following suggestions:1,tospread more about doing exercises scientifically among the old;2, to improve the exercising environmentand equipments for the old;3, to enlarge the number of people doing professional exercising instructionsand emphasize the cultivation of PE majors;4, to carry out instruction works for the old in the center ofAnyang literature and physical association of old people;5, broaden the mind for raising fund for themanagement of physical exercises of the old;6, to improve the professionalizing level of management ofphysical exercises of the old.
