Apprentice of members of Chinese academies means a kind of social effect between the members of Chinese academies resulting from the relationship of apprentice. Then how is the status of this effect? How does it come from? Does it benefit to tor impede to the development of academy?By consulting larger amount of biographies and memories about members of academies in Chinese academies of Sciences(CAS) and Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE), visiting the official websites of CAS and CAE as well as Science Net, this thesis founds that there exists the following features of apprentice among members of Chinese academies Firstly, concerned to the areal distribution, there are more apprentice of members of academy in Eastern China, while less in central and western areas. Secondly, concerned to universities distribution, the apprentice in major universities is much more obvious than that in other universities. Thirdly, concerned to the discipline distribution, the apprentice in the disciplines of Science and Engineering is much more obvious than that in Agronomy, Medicine and Management.Then this thesis concludes six aspects of results about the features of apprentice. Firstly, the economy of the eastern China has highly developed than other areas, which appears a large number of members to stay in the eastern universities and colleges for researching and teaching. Then, because of the denser apprentice atmosphere and more developing resources for apprentice in the major universities, with a development at a favorable time, place and human resources. Therefore, the major universities gather large amount of members. Thirdly, resulting from the influence of long history and culture of apprentice effect, major universities have a more profound apprentice. So it is easier to produce harmony teacher-student relationship to make more influential apprentice. Fourthly, since the major disciplines are Science and Engineering in CAS and CAE, so there produce many members of Chinese academies in Science and Engineering. Fifthly, under the requirement of building new China, the talents in Science and Engineering are focused on training. Last, the Matthew Effect in science field leads to the unbalance distribution of members of Chinese academies in universities, which makes the good better and the bad worse.So what are the influences of such apprentice to the development of universities? From the positive perspective, the apprentice is in favor of forming the "talent chain" with the members of academy centered, and it is good for the inheriting the thoughts and ideas of academic genres. Besides, apprentice of members can inherit the academic spirit and scientific literacy better in the process of research and study. However, from the negative perspective, it is easier to form sectarianism which impedes to the academic communication, and it may monopolize academic resources. Then, it aggravates the fact that teachers in universities chasing for fame or benefit and apply programs without quality only for being selected members of Chinese academies. What’s more, it may result in the academic inbreeding phenomenon among the academic team of apprentices, which may lead to academic recession.Therefore, aiming at the advantage and disadvantage of the apprentice of members of Chinese academies, we should enhance advantage and avoid disadvantage to make the apprentice a promoter to the maintainable development of universities.
