Political education has played an irreplaceable key role in the construction of the party and the state, it has been regarded as the core of all work, whether in the early revolutionary war, after the founding of the PRC or the period of reform and opening up. Political education united the party and the people to struggle together and made a great contribution to the development and progress of contemporary China, during which authority of political education has made tremendous contributions. But with the reform and opening-up, the political education is extended to "Ideological and political education", of which the leading position, political and ideological character begins to waver,and in the final, its political color gradually fade. The dominant position of political education has been replaced by ideological education, moral education, quality education and psychological education, which has an intrinsic logic relationship with the loss of authority of political education in colleges and universities, which has led to the decline of the ideological and political education authority as well. Political education lost the important function of leading social thoughts and anti-risk capacity. The indisputable fact of lack of belief and the social and moral disorder is laying accountability on ideological and political education with no doubt. Meanwhile, people’s disinterest, distrust and even cynicism also reflects China’s ideological and political education is trapped in vicious spiral.Colleges and universities are entrusted with the future of the country and nation’s hopes. Universities bear the educating responsibility."Three confidence"(confidence of the road, confidence of the theory, confidence of the institution) and "Chinese Dream" proposed in18th CCP Congress has brought new opportunities and basis for the reconstruction of political education authority of the university. The fact that political education which will be lead by "Chinese Dream" also leads ideological and political education now is an important issue in the field of the current ideological and political education. This paper therefore is only the beginning of the whole study.The dissertation is divided into five parts, the first part is the preface, mainly introduced the significance, research methods and innovation of this papers; the second part mainly summarizes the definition of China’s political education, ideological and political education and their authorities; the third part is mainly about analysis of the causes of the loss of authority of the political education in colleges and universities and briefly reviewed the history from leading to loss; the fourth part elaborates of the necessity and possibility of reconstruction of political education’s authority of colleges and universities, and focuses on the brand new opportunities that " Chinese Dream" has brought for the reconstruction of the authority; fifth part proposes the solution,which put the "Chinese Dream" and "Three confidences" as a goal, principle and basis for the path of the reconstruction of political education’s authority in colleges and universities; final epilogue is to summarize the whole paper.
