Career expectations are one’s expectations to a particular career, embodiesthe personal attitude and beliefs of certain occupations. This study found Self-taughtstudents’ career expectations are unusually high, and career expectations will producecertain influence to job satisfaction. How to help Self-taught students build reasonablecareer expectations is an urgent question need to explore, therefore, this issue researchhas a very important practical significance.The research object of this study is the influence of Self-taught students’ careerexpectations to their job satisfaction. Based on the systematically review andsummarize the relevant theories, understand the career expectations and jobsatisfaction status quo of Self-taught students by investigation way;Analyzed theinfluence of Self-taught students’ career expectations to their job satisfaction, anddiscussed the reason of high career expectation. This study puts forward somecountermeasures and strategies to solve these problems and to help Self-taughtstudents build a reasonable career expectation.The introduction part elaborated the research content and objectives, significanceand methods, research review, etc.The first part mainly introduces the related theory, including related theory aboutcareer expectations and the relevant theories of job satisfaction.The second part is mainly about the design and implementation of theinvestigation and study, including the design of the questionnaire and interview, thesample distribution, statistical methods and tools.Based on the questionnaire and interview, the third part analyzed the careerexpectations and job satisfaction status quo of Self-taught students;Career expectation influence factors and the relationship between their career expectations and jobsatisfaction.The study found that:(1)Self-taught students’ career expectation is abovethe average level and they have wrong professional values,reflected in emphasis onthe current interests. The population characteristics such as gender, subject, educationlevel, source location have a larger impact on their career aspirations.(2)Self-taughtstudents’ job satisfaction is low, population characteristics and job satisfaction hassignificant correlation. Male’ job satisfaction is higher than female’, scienceprofessional students’ job satisfaction is higher than liberal arts student’.(3)Self-taught students’ career expectations and the dimension are significant relatedto job satisfaction. After controlling for gender, education, discipline and sourcelocation, popularity status predict job satisfaction positively, intrinsic value negativepredict job satisfaction, extrinsic value was not significant effect on job satisfaction.(4)Besides demographic characteristics, the influence factors also come from family,student support unit, society, etc.The fourth part mainly introduced the countermeasures about how to help thestudents build reasonable career expectation. Based on the existing problems andcauses of their career expectations, this part posed the coping strategies from theaspects of individuals, families, society and student support unit. Such as individualshould understand and evaluate themselves correctly, form right professional values;Families should build a good family culture, strengthen the emotional care, guide thechildren to build reasonable career expectations; Society should intensify positivepropaganda, convert the social awareness about self-taught examination, broadeningthe employment space of Self-taught students; Student support unit should payattention to career education, strengthen the employment guidance team construction,implement whole course employment guidance.
