Research Purposes: As more and more attention has been paid to the development ofvocational education, the five-year higher vocational education has become an importantpart of higher education in our country. Improving vocational students’ physical health is agood foundation for the Renaissance of Chinese traditional medicine talent base. Therefore,improving the physical health of students of Chinese medicine major is urgently needed.Research Methods: Taking the students in Lianyungang TCM college of JiangsuUnion Technical Institute as the research object, the200girl-students and200boy-studentsin Grade Three who have the knowledge of TCM were randomly selected as a group;another400students including200girl-students and200boy-students in Grade Threein a senior middle school were randomly selected as control evaluation group.Questionnaire survey covers four aspects of students’ physical health: physical healthconsciousness, lifestyle, diet, and physical exercise. Research methods include literature,questionnaire, physical fitness test and mathematical statistics. The student’s physique testdata of the two groups were analyzed and compared.Research Results:1. Analysis of Body Shape:The weight of boys in the group with Chinese medicine knowledge increasedslightly by13.8%than the growth trend in weight of boys in the group with non-Chinesemedicine knowledge is low. The average weight of the girls in the group with Chinesemedicine specialized knowledge is6.5%lower than that of the girls in the other group. Theweight of the group with Chinese medicine knowledge tended to be reduced by17.8%thanthe weight with no Chinese medicine knowledge. The average weight of the girls in thegroup with Chinese medicine specialized knowledge is7.5%lower than that of the girls inthe other group.2. Analysis of Physical Function: The average vital capacity of the group with TCM knowledge is much high than thatof the group with no TCM knowledge. The differences between them are obvious.(P<0.05)3. Analysis of Physical Quality:There are no obvious differences in standing long jump high grade on average of thegroup with TCM knowledge and the other group. but the trend on the flexible quality in thegroup with TCM knowledge Professional knowledge is higher than the other group.(P<0.05)4. Analysis of quertionnaire survey:In strong physique healthy care consciousness, and actively taking part in physicalexercise, the students in the group with the TCM knowledge are better than the othergroup.Research Conclusions:1. The students in the group with Chinese medicine knowledge are better than those inother groups not only in body shape, physical function, but also in physical quality(exceptstanding long jump).2. The strong healthy care consciousness of the students in the group with Chinesemedicine knowledge are better than the others. It is probably because of the campusatmosphere with the TCM characteristics, it promote students to maintain theconsciousness of preventive care and physical health.3. The knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine covering the prevention, treatment,health care, rehabilitation and maintenance of physical health encourage students todevelop a healthy lifestyle.4. The level of physical fitness of the students in the group with Chinese medicineknowledge are better, probably because they have more spare time to do physical exercisesin their out-of-class activities.
